Of Diabetes, Insulin and UTI

We had our usual checkup at PPUM last Friday. At 7, I started having Braxton Hicks Contraction. Thought it was nothing, but it came every 10 mins, then 5 mins, from 7 am till 10 am. By the time I met the Dr, I was still having regular contractions. I thought I was going into labor!! Everyone was excited semua ingat I was going into labor. Dekat group whatsapp family punyala kecoh. My bro siap suruh Aizad baca2 dekat air kasi i minum. "Hanya Tuhan boleh membantu". Ewah drama sangat tau! haha

When the Dr checked my tummy, I was having one that very moment . " haah la, saya rasa perut dia keras. Kak, kena check bawah ni " Seluk? Alamak. Seriously?

So Yeah, kena seluk yada yada.

"Ada bukaan sikit tapi sikit je tak sampai 1 cm. Masuk wad eh?"

Aku dah blur2 lol. Seriously, kena warded?

"Eh awak ada GDM eh? hahh kalau tak sebab ni pon, kena warded sebab nak monitor GDM. It might be pre term labor, or it's just UTI. "

And we both were laughing haha. Macam geli hati kena warded. Dr pon siap gelak hah padan muka tidur sorang lol. But before they brought me up to Level 5, they brought me to see the Endocrine Dr and the Insulin Nurse.

There was a possibility I was going into labor, so the Dr said he's going to give me Dexa, so that paru-paru baby kuat in case I go to labor. And dexa will spike my glucose reading. Habis. That means only 1 thing :INSULIN. Tidak!!!!!!

So off we go to see the Insulin Nurse. She taught me how to use the pen and all and even did a demo on me. AND AIZAD. LOL. she said it's for moral support. haha. Sian dia kena cucuk. Dahla he doesn't like jarum but it wasn't painful at all. Me pinching my fat was even more painful.

Afterwards they brought me up, put me up on a CTG scan and guess what. The contraction stopped. Baby K main main dengan Mak eh??

After a few hours, the results of my urine came in and it was UTI. Phew. No early labor. BUT my glucose level was higher than before, and even if they didn't administer Dexa to me, they insist I go on insulin.

So yeah. Kind of a bummer. It's not too bad, doesn't hurt and Aizad LOVES doing it. Every time it's time for a jab he'll get so excited and wants to do it "Mai, Abang buat" haha. Thanks baby.

SO My question is..

Mommies who have GDM, and was/is on insuline, were you induced at week 38? and where are you delivering? I'm delivering at PPUM, and i heard they're really strict about GDM cases especially those who are insulin dependent. A reading of 5 is considered high according to Eda.

And please don't scare me with all the scary stories about how being induced is more painful than normal birth. I've read too much on that already.

So If I were to be induced at Week 38, BabyK is expected to arrive September 7 or September 8.
