A few weeks back, I booked an appointment for my 1st checkup at PPUM.We left home at 6.15, didnt want to get caught in the morning traffic.By 7, Aizad parked in PPUM'S basement.I was so sleepy and planned to have a short nap but Aizad wanted to go up straight. OKAY -.-
The Antenatal Klinik wasnt open yet. But by 7.20, I checked and the registration hall was open and it was half full already! What?! I forgot that they had another door, from the playground.Cis. We could've gotten an earlier number but i got number 14.
When my number came up , i found out i took the wrong number.haha.I was supposed to press 'J' but i pressed 'C'. bUt the staff key in-ed my data anyway.Sebab buat muka blur2 . Haha.
I handed over my
a)appointment form that they gave the first time I booked my apppointment
b) my ic and Aizads IC. Nak original ya.Kalau suami x dtg, bawak photocopy.
c)RM31 for checkup and registration
d)referral letter from Klinik Ajwa
e)buku merah from Klinik Ajwa
Bring any results you have, like blood test results and get the dates right . So far they wanted to know when you do every test . That includes your tetanus shots, your blood test, your pap smear etc.
After registering, they'll give you a receipt for that RM31 payment and another number for your checkup. Go to the payment counter in the lobby, take another number to pay RM500 (for private sector) to book your labor room. Then go back to the Antenatal Clinic, wait for your name to be called. Once they do,they'll give a form and you will have to go get your urine and weight checked and measured. Then you check your BP, and wait for the staff nurse to call you again, for an interview.
She'll ask all sorts of question like when your edd is, whens your LMP, how long you've been married, the date of your tetanus shots, the date of your blood tests, when your last scan was, etc.So make sure your records are all written down in the Buku Merah.
Then you wait again for your number to be called (the one given at the registration counter). But the nurse told me to wait for my name to be called for the Breastfeeding Talk. Before my name was called, my number came up so i went to see the Dr.
He asked more q's, checked my bp, and the baby's heartbeat, and checked my tummy.
Next, since I have GDM, they told me to wait for my name to be called again, to see the dietitian. When they called my name, the nurse brought me to the Endo room (dont ask me its short for what) , basically where GDM mommies go. The nurse taught me how to use the glucose meter
I had to buy 1 , cause i had to do 3 BSP'S before my next apppointment and one day of BSP costs around RM48 (rm12 each for each measurement) . So 3 would cost me RM144 .
The meter cost rm105 and 50 extra strips worth RM10. Cheaper if i just buy one. Then i can sell it to anyone who needs it after this. Siapa nak? Haha. Simpang xnak GDM dah.
Plus its easier for me, no need to take leave and go to the clinic 4 times a day. I can just test my glucose level at work.trust me if you have GDM, just buy or rent 1. Unless you opt to do it at a pharmacy, which is allowed. Still, its cheaper to just buy one meter.
The staff then taught me how to do my BSP and how to use the meter. and she set another appointment for me with the dietitian 2 weeks later to check my bsp results. I then waited AGAIN to see the dietitian. She explained what to eat, what not to bla3.
Then we went to the registration counter again to set my next checkup with the doc. No need to take a number. since my next appointment with the dietitian is 2 weeks from today, approximately 16th august, i asked for the same day for my checkup with the Dr. The Dr approved.
Next, we went to Level 1 to set another appointment for an ultrasound. I asked for the same date as well.
Finally, we were done for the day. Phew!
So i left with 3 more appointments with 3 different departments on the same day.
Penat nak mampus! Haha. Berjalan sana sini, berapa banyal nombor dah amik, but its very sistematic. Its just the wait. But you dont wait that long after each step, just theres a lot of procedures and steps, a bit tiring. Bring a book , your tab, your games ke whatever. You need it to kill time.
Even writing this is tiring. Haha.
The good thing is PPUM is a semi gov hospital.and the building, Kompleks Wanita dan Kanak-kanak is new.i heard thst husbands can now join their wives in the labor room, this is what my boss' husband who's a dr at Hosp sungai buloh told me. I forgot to ask today, but i'll ask in 2 weeks yeah?
So, any questions?
